ALMASPORTS LA PALMA & BMW SPONSORS PALMERO CHAMPION OF TRANSVULCANIA

ALMASPORTS LA PALMA together with BMW, sponsors TransVulcania athlete Samuel Fernandez who participated 6 times in this challenging mountain competition. In 2013 Samuel came 3rd in the overall competition and 1st for La Palma running 24 kilometres. Following more dedicated training Samuel stepped it up a gear,  in 2014 and 2015 he participated in the 44 kilometres race, coming overall 7th on both occasions, this earned him again the title of best TransVulcania champion for La Palma which is the home of this international competition. His races for 2016 will be announced shortly

WHAT IS TRANSVULCANIA?

Transvulcania is a long distance race, considered the hardest mountain-ultramarathon in the Canary Islands and one of the most important in the world. The total route has a length of 73.3 km (45.5 mi) with a cumulative elevation gain of 2,201 meters. The race takes place on the island of La Palma since 2009 and with the participation of many international runners.

Over time additional races have been added to the original Transvulcania utramarathon proper, currently

  • Half-marathon, 24 km (15 mi) with a cumulative elevation gain of 2,201 meters
  • Marathon, 44 km (27 mi) with a cumulative elevation gain of 1,724 meters
  • Vertical kilometer, 6 km (3.7 mi) with an elevation gain of 1,000 meters
  • Various races for children
